Terms of Service for MindLumos

1. About Us

MindLumos is owned and operated by The MindLumos Team.

2. What the Service Does

Upload a supported study material (like a PDF, image, or audio file), and we convert it into interactive study tools such as flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps.

How it works

• Firebase – hosting, storage, sign-in, background jobs
• AI Services – Content analysis and study tool generation

3. Account Creation and Eligibility

• Sign up with an email and password or with Google single sign-on (SSO).
• Keep your login details private; anything done through your account is your responsibility.
• You must be at least 16 years old (or the local "digital-consent" age where you live).

4. Plans, Billing, and Credits

MindLumos uses a credit system to generate study tools. Different tools cost a different number of credits. We offer a Free plan with limited credits and several Pro plans with recurring credit allotments.

• Unused credits expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over.
• For subscription plans, your saved payment method is charged at the start of each cycle. Taxes may be added if required by law.
• You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time. Changes will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle.

5. Acceptable Use

• Upload only documents you own or have a legal right to process.
• Do not upload unlawful, hateful, or highly sensitive personal documents (e.g., medical records without consent).
• Do not reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload our systems.
• Do not resell MindLumos as part of another product without a separate written agreement.
• We may suspend or close accounts that violate these rules.

6. Service Interruptions

Why downtime can happen — We work hard to keep the Service available, but interruptions may occur due to maintenance, upgrades, or unforeseen issues.

No liability for downtime — We are not liable for any loss, damage, or cost that results from the temporary unavailability of the Service.

AI Accuracy Limits — The quality of generated study tools depends on the source document. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy or error-free operation.

7. Refunds and Cancellations

Because every account starts with free credits to test the service, we generally do not issue refunds. If you believe there has been a billing error, please contact us within 24 hours of payment at billing@mindlumos.com.

We do not provide refunds for unused credits or partial subscription periods.

How to cancel — You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Your plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

Effect of cancellation — After your plan ends, your account will revert to Free-tier limits. Files may be deleted according to the Free tier retention policy.

8. Your Content and Privacy

• You own your documents and the study tools generated from them.
• Automatic file deletion follows the retention periods outlined in our Privacy Policy.
• We do not sell your data or use it to train public AI models.

9. Intellectual Property

• Your documents and their generated content remain yours.
• MindLumos's software, brand, and underlying models remain our property.
• We grant you a non-exclusive license to use the Service as long as you follow these Terms.

10. Third-Party Services

MindLumos relies on third-party services like Google Cloud and Firebase. Their outages or policy changes can affect our service. By using MindLumos, you also agree to comply with their relevant terms where applicable.

11. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is." We do not promise that MindLumos will be error-free or fit for every purpose.

AI Limitations. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all generated content; we are not liable for mistakes in the AI output.

Excluded damages. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, or special damages of any kind.

Force majeure. We are not liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, power failures, or cyber-attacks.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. We will email account owners or display an in-app banner before material changes take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new version.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which our company is registered. Disputes will be handled in the local courts unless consumer laws provide non-waivable rights to do otherwise.
